For their paper entitled SmartSPEC: Customizable Smart Space Datasets via Event-Driven Simulations. This work, co-authored by Andrew Chio, Daokun Jiang, Peeyush Gupta, Georgios Vouloukakis, Roberto Yus, Sharad Mehrotra, and Nalini Venkatasubramanian,  developed a novel event-based simulator for generating synthetic smart space data. The simulator was inspired by and used to generate data for testing UCI’s smart space technology, entitled TIPPERS, during Trident Warrior Exercises with the  US Navy.
